Annual Company Leagues Start January 14, 2008

2007 Kellogg's Champion

Our Annual Company Leagues will begin on January 14, 2008 and will run for ten consecutive weeks. The Annual Company Leagues began when Ralston Corporation approached us five years ago about organizing a League. Since then, companies such as Ralston, the Federal Center, the Battle Creek Air National Guard Base, Western Michigan University Flight School, Kellogg’s, Duncan Aviation, Coldwater Area Police, Denso, and TRMI have all participated. Many of these companies have even provided financial support for their employees’ activities in the same way that they would sponsor a golf league or a bowling league. Examples of these companies are Ralston, the Federal Center, the Battle Creek Air National Guard Base, and Duncan Aviation.
The leagues are designed so that anyone, regardless of skill level can compete and have fun. The handicap table designed by the National Rifle Association will be applied to each shooters’ scores so everyone will compete on an equal level.
The leagues are also designed to be flexible to fit into our busy lifestyles. Most company groups choose a particular day and time to meet and shoot their course of fire for the week so they can enjoy the camaraderie. If for whatever reason (such as work has you out of town or you’re on vacation or whatever the reason), then you can make your shoot up later in the week or you could do a week ahead of time or do an extra week when you get back. The point is that this is supposed to be fun and stress relieving, not add to the stress of one more thing that you have to do.
We would also like to encourage companies not to view this as a “guy thing”. For instance, both Ralston and the Federal Center have had enough ladies (at least six) participate that they have formed separate ladies divisions in their league with their own first second and third place trophies.
Finally, there will be trophies for first, second, and third place in each company league. We will take the top six shooters from each league, average their scores, and compare them to the averaged scores of every other company. Whichever company has the highest average score will lay claim to Traveling Company Trophy for the year. Last year Kellogg’s dethroned the two year champions, Western Michigan Flight School, and the Coldwater Area Police were just behind Kellogg’s.
